Complex for generation of pressure impulses with programmed duration and amplitude

The magneto-pulsing complex was created to generate mechanical pressure pulses with microsecond duration. The amplitude magnitude is up to 1 GPa. The methods developed use different geometric configurations to determine threshold values of impact loading of brittle materials.
The main element of the complex is the pulse current generator with stored energy of 12 kJ. This generator provides pulse current of 1 MA. The current commutation is obtained with the use of low-inductive multilane commutators. The pulse current profile is formed by means of non-linear elements (vilite resistors) included in the discharged circuit.
The minimal pulse duration in load with inductance of 50 nH is equal to 2 microsec. Pressure pulse parameters uniquely depend on the flowing current value and they can be measured with the minimal accuracy of 2%.
